The Catholic chapel is situated in the 18th century wing and was created in 1829 following the Catholic Emancipation Act. It is a small intimate chapel which can seat up to 50 people but you will also feel comfortable with fewer than 10. There is also a harmonium which can be played. Any religious denomination can be married in the chapel.

We are happy to provide assistance in finding a local minister or priest. Civil ceremonies must be arranged through the local registry office in Peebles. Please note that overseas couples must register at least six weeks in advance and UK couples must register 4 weeks in advance.
If you are planning a religious ceremony out with the chapel there are some Church of Scotland ministers who are willing to do this. Humanist ministers are also happy to marry anywhere whereas Catholic marriages must happen in the Catholic chapel.
Civil ceremonies must take place in registered premises. At Traquair this includes the High Drawing Room, Dining Room, Lower Drawing Room and the grounds.
