Festive Fayre At Traquair
Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th November
11am – 4pm
Traquair’s very popular free Christmas Opening will this year be enhanced by a Food and Drink Marquee in front of the house as part of the St Andrews Day celebrations in the Scottish Borders.
Traquair will be in festive spirit with the house decorated for Christmas, floral displays and staff in Victorian dress. There is a sumptuous Santa’s Grotto in the Lower Drawing Room for under 10’s and puppet shows, face painting and treasure hunts for children.
Lots of shopping opportunities as well with craft stalls in the house and great discounts being offered in the Gift and Brewery shops.
In the Chapel there will be carol singing from local choirs Fortissimo and In Chorus with the St Ronan’s Silver Band performing on Saturday in the courtyard.
New this year will be a fabulous food and drink marquee where local producers will be selling their wares from gourmet chocolate, clootie dumplings, chilli jam and home made confectionery as well as Traquair’s own delicious ales on draught. In addition there will be ongoing cookery demonstrations with local chefs Gary Moore, Val Brunton and Bosco Santimano as well as sugarcraft for the ultimate Christmas cake.
You can feast on the spot with a splendid hog roast, mulled wine, roasted chestnuts and delicious lunches and teas from the 1745 Cottage Restaurant.
And just incase you don’t want to drive, Traquair will helpfully be running free shuttle buses to and from Innerleithen to meet local bus services.
