Wines

We have an excellent wine and champagne list and can usually source any particular wines you may require. However, if you prefer to bring your own wines we do have a corkage charge. In addition if you wish to run a bar we would be happy to do this and can also supply our own delicious ales on draught or in bottle.

Traquair House Wines 2010

1. Norte Chico Sauvignon Blanc 2009 Chile: £15.40
Lively refreshing Sauvignon from one of the leading producers in the region. Crisp herbaceous flavours and no oak!

2. Norte Chico Merlot 2009 Chile: £15.40
A super smooth, mellow merlot. Nice soft damson fruit flavours make it a great match with most foods.

White Wines

1. Sauvignon Blanc Tinpot Hut 2008/09 Marlborough New Zealand: £18.70
Delicious refreshing Marlborough Sauvignon, owned by a Scots Lass-Fiona Turner with the wine made by Matt Thomson from grapes grown in the Awatere Valley. Crisp citrus and gooseberry flavours.

2. Chablis 2006/07 'La Chablisienne' France: £20.85
Classic, tightly structured Chardonnay from one of the regions best producers. Gentle mineral and citrus fruit notes enliven the palate.

3. Chardonnay Bon Vallon 2008/09 de Wetshof-South Africa: £18.30
A totally unoaked South African chardonnay from ace wine maker Dannie de Wet. Known as the 'King of chardonnay' in South Africa. A crisp refreshing style with nice acidity.

4. Albarino 2008 Gran Bazan Verde - Spain: £20.70
Made from grapes grown in the lush green North Western vineyards of the Rias Baixas. Most of Spain's seafood is landed here and this delicious white wine is the perfect match for most white fish and seafood. Refreshing dry crisp white with hints of tropical fruits and green apple. A great alternative to Sauvignon Blanc!

5. Heartland Viognier Pinot Gris 2007 Limestone Coast - Australia: £17.15
An unusual blend of two aromatic grape varieties, all put together  by master winemaker Ben Glaetzer. Lovely stone fruit flavours of white peach with a touch of pear. Tied together with a pleasing balanced refreshing acidity. Made from grapes grown close to the Southern Ocean near Adelaide.

Sparkling Wines and Champagne

11. Green Point Brut N.V. Moet Australia: £24.25
An amazing sparkling wine made in the Yarra Valley, North and East of Melbourne. A similar climate to Champagne allows the same grape varieties to be used. Made at Moet et Chandon's winery. A touch fruitier that Champagne and closed with a crown cap, not a cork.

12. Devaux Champagne Grande Reserve Brut: £35.00
A quality Champagne from a lovely property in the Southern part of the region. Full flavoured toasty black fruit style with lots of bubbles and elegance!

13. Cuvée Catherine: £16.00
Our French sparkling white wine produced exclusively for Traquair.

Red Wines

6. De Gras Merlot Reserva 2007/08 Colchagua Valley Chile: £19.90
A classy merlot made from grapes grown in the viticultural organic paradise that is the Colchagua Valley an hour and a half south of Santiago. Deep, smooth almost dark chocolate richness and lovely black fruit flavours coat the palate.

7. Cotes du Rhone Les Antimagnes 2008 France: £18.75
A Cotes du Rhone that tastes like Chateauneuf du Pape! Made from Grenache and Syrah grapes in one of the most beautiful vineyards in Provence.

8. Chianti 'Leonardo' 2008 Tuscany Italy: £18.35
A good value Chianti from the northern part of Tuscany. Juicy, brambly Sangiovese with a refreshing mandarin zesty note.

9. Altozano Tempranillo Shiraz 2008 Spain: £18.25
A heady blend of two tasty grape varieties. Bright, prickly, spicy Tempranillo (the grape of Rioja) and rich full flavoured almost smokey Shiraz. Gonzalez Byass have some of the finest vineyards in Southern Spain.
Great with any spicy ham dish or red meats.

10. Heartland Shiraz 2007 Langhorne Creek Australia: £17.15
A deliciously clean and not 'over oaked' Shiraz from the Langhorn Creek to the East of Adelaide. Ben Glaetzer prefers the subtle use of French oak rather than the sweet American version favoured by so many Australian winemakers. Lovely beefy, juicy notes mixed with black cherry and scent of The Garrigue.
