Glamping is Fair Game at Traquair

Family Glampers (Glam campers) looking for a unique location to pitch their tents this summer plus some great entertainment should head for the Traquair Fair in the scenic Scottish Borders. 

Held on the weekend of August 6th/7th , the Traquair Fair is an incredible family festival in the magical grounds of historic Traquair House which combines theatre, music, dance, children’s entertainment, artists and craft demonstrations, workshops and storytelling with a "fire" theme.

This year the event will feature its first ever  family Glamp site, giving festival goers the chance to camp in a stunning secluded location on the banks of the river Tweed, just a stone’s throw from Traquair House. With the option to rent a yurt, or take your own tent, the site offers a real taste of the countryside with no vehicles allowed and a fabulous fire pit dug out and stacked with wood ready for communal camp fires. With the site reserved exclusively for those attending the Fair ,a weekend family camping package, which includes tickets to the Fair for both the 6th and 7th for two adults and up to three children plus three nights camping for two tents, is a bargain £98.

Those seeking a little more luxury can rent a yurt accommodating four people for three nights for £395, with entry tickets for both days for four people included in the price.

Additional camping is also available on the nearby Fair public site (half a mile from Traquair House) where there is vehicle access and a tent or caravan/camper pitch is just £4.50/night with the purchase of an event ticket.

This year’s Traquair Fair will feature a host of live music performances including folk and world music, plus circus style pyromania juggling and unicycling, outdoor theatre from Turbo Jonez and the Temple of Boom, fiery craft demonstrations, children’s entertainment, a vibrant crafts market and food and drink from around the world.
