Traquair Estate is approx 4,000 acres around the vicinity of Traquair and Innerleithen. This includes around 5 let farms (mainly upland and stocked with sheep) 300 acres of mixed forestry, 20 cottages and some fishing on the River Tweed.
Traquair has a policy of encouraging long lets in their cottages and there are no holiday cottages on the estate.
Traquair has some of the finest trout, grayling, sea trout and salmon fishing available on its doorstep, the world-famous River Tweed always offering the possibility of great sport throughout the year. There is 2 miles of fishing available on the River Tweed close to the house and the best season to fish for salmon here is October – November. Trout and sea trout are available 1st April to the end of September and grayling fishing is available throughout the year. Instruction and guiding is available from Finlay Wilson, a Hardy/Greys endorsed professional guide/casting instructor and features writer for Trout & Salmon magazine. From beginners and youngsters wanting to get started to accomplished anglers looking for a fast track to the hot spots or improvements in casting techniques, they can cater for all levels. All equipment is provided and can make a wonderful addition to your stay at Traquair.
