It has been announced today that Traquair Fair is back and will take place this year on the 31st July and 1st August.
After a year’s break, Catherine Maxwell Stuart, the organiser, said the event was coming back bigger and better than ever.
“A year off gave us a chance to look at the Fair in detail, make a few changes and add some new entertainments. We all have renewed enthusiasm and energy and are really looking forward to this year’s event”.
The Fair will continue its varied programme of street theatre, world music, dance, children’s entertainment, workshops for all ages as well as a huge variety of craft stalls, workshops for all ages and complementry therapists.
In addition this year the Fair has received funding cheap soma from Event Scotland which has helped support the creation of a new Visual Arts area for demonstrations, exhibitions and participatory workshops. Have a go at lithography, etching or Japanese calligraphy. There will also be a massive canvas for everyone to add their own creation and build a record of the event.
In the Children’s Area, a new children’s book tent will make its appearance with a programme of writers and storytellers as well as book stands and a cosy area to browse and read.
The theme of the Fair this year will be “Beyond Borders” and we are highlighting the best of home grown culture as well as showcasing other small nations throughout the world such as Cuba, Afghanistan, Palestine and Georgia.
