Saturday 26th & Sunday 27th May
11am—6pm
This year Traquair House will play host to a weekend of Elizabethan treats and activities including  jousting, falconry, archey and of course, Shakespeare.

The Traquair Shakespeare Festival is part of the RSC Open Stages Programme which aims to celebrate amateur theatre and strengthen the bond with the world of professional theatre.

During the weekend there will be a series of workshops led by the RSC's Mike Corbridge, Singing coach Lin Marsh and actor, Guy Masterson for those interested in honing their dramatic skills.

The event itself will showcase amateur and professional theatre over the weekend with four shows a day in a theatre marquee on the wine glass lawn. They will include Guy Masterson's acclaimed performance of "Shylock", Macbeth in Scots as well as early music  performances in the Chapel and the house.

In the old walled garden take yourself back to Tudor times with living history displays and demonstrations, traders with authentic wares, combat displays, workshops for children, jesters, minstrels, long bow archery as well as good food, spit roast and of course, ye olde Shakespearean Ale!

Out on the avenue there will be superb displays of horsemanship with jousting from Les Amis d'Onno and around and about you might bump into a Shakespearean character or two.

Whether you are a culture vulture, medieval enthusiast or just looking for a good day out with family there will be something for everyone to enjoy.
