Situated in the old walled garden it has won a superb reputation for its delicious home made soups and lunches as well as its tempting scones and home baking. Examples of our menus can be seen below, including our new Hungry Bear Menu for children.
The cheerful attractive interior of the cottage can seat up to 50 people and the patio and walled garden outside takes many more. On a sunny day there are few more relaxing places to have lunch or a snack than under the sprawling apple trees in the garden. A wonderful place for children to run around and for parents to eat and enjoy.
The Garden Café is available to all visitors of Traquair House and is open when the house is open.
Garden Cafe Reviews
Beautiful house and gardens. Great architecture and I loved the maze at the back of the house was lots of fun! The food in the Cafe was delicious, the burger was amazing, would definitely recommend!
Our visit to Traquair House was very interesting with enthusiastic and knowledgeable guides and shop staff. The house is very atmospheric and is steaped in history. The small craft village contained interesting shops stocked with good value, interesting items of jewellery, potter and wood products. The highlight of the visit, for us, was the Garden Cafe. The food was freshly prepared, tasted great and was good value for money. The chocolate cake was out of this world!
The woodland walks are really good with some amazing trees. We really enjoyed the challenge of the maze. There are small craft workshops. A real highlight was the cafe and the outstanding lunch…Cullen skink, vegetable tempura & cock a leekie followed by very, very good coffee and home-made cake (not easy to choose from such a wonderful selection). All staff friendly and welcoming.
Wonderful ancient house which has not been spoilt by the Victorians. Steeped in history and 100% genuine. Staffed by people who love to work there. The cafe/tea rooms is excellent too. Delicious soups and 4 choices of gluten free cakes!!! We loved it all!
