Traquair House Charitable Trust
Our Mission
Traquair House Charitable Trust was created in 1999 by Flora Maxwell Stuart and the main part of the house and estate are in the Trust’s ownership.
The Trust was created for the long term preservation of the house and immediate estate in 1999 with the principal aims and objectives as follows:
a) to preserve for public benefit the property known as Traquair House, Innerleithen, together with its
related buildings, gardens and policies;
b) to preserve for public benefit the chattels ordinarily kept at Traquair House which may be owned by
or loaned to the Trustees;
c) to encourage access to, study and appreciation of Traquair and such chattels by the general public;
d) to encourage activities for the advancement of education or in the interest of social welfare at Traquair;
e) to promote for the public benefit ecumenical activities based at Traquair.
