Part of the Traquair Estate, Howford is a 10 minute walk to Traquair, Scotland’s Oldest Inhabited House and Traquair offers a range of exclusive offers to guests staying at Howford including dining facilities in the eighteenth century Dining Room, use of the tennis court and discounted entry to house and free entry to grounds.

The house has recently been renovated and is furnished with antique furniture and a stunning collection of modern art. Still retaining many of their original features, the rooms are large and spacious with an elegant Drawing Room and snug downstairs, formal Dining Room and large farmhouse kitchen complete with aga as well as electric cooker. There is also a large utility room with ample spacing for washing and drying clothes.
Upstairs there are 5 well apportioned bedrooms all with luxurious beds including a four poster and a further 2 bedrooms in the rear wing all with large zip and link beds that can be converted to twins or king size doubles. On the third floor there are two large attic rooms with their own bathroom that can sleep up to 4 people, ideal for children or teenagers who want to be self contained.
On the ground floor there is a fully accessible bedroom with a ramp to entrance and accessible shower/bathroom. The ground floor is fully accessible for wheelchair users.

We are also pleased to take enquiries for short breaks and wedding parties from the beginning of September to mid June. The following pricing would apply:
65% of weekly rental for 2/3 nights
75% of weekly rental for 4 nights
Salmon Fishing is available Sept – November at Traquair through Fish Pal and trout fishing permits available through Traquair House.

If you are celebrating a family gathering, birthday or anniversary why not take advantage of a very special dining experience at Traquair House during your stay.
You may book an evening at Traquair for preferential rates that includes dinner in our eighteenth century Dining Room that seats up to 24 people around the main table and drinks can be taken beforehand in the High Drawing Room. With dinner served by candlelight this is a truly authentic and unique evening for a very special occasion.

There are a wealth of amenities and attractions nearby including the world famous mountain biking forest of Glentress, an 18 hole championship golf course at nearby Cardrona and 9 hole course at Innerleithen; wonderful walking including access to the Southern Upland Way; trout and salmon fishing in season; leisure cycling including an off road cycle path from Innerleithen to Peebles as well as a superb range of attractions such as gardens, historic houses and border abbeys all within 30 minutes drive of the house.
