Traquair Bioblitz – 14th May 2023 11am-5pm

TRAQUAIR BIOBLITZ – WILDLIFE & NATURE DAY
Sunday 14th May
11am – 5pm
A family day for lovers of nature, wildlife and plants.
Join the experts for a day of activities from Fungi walks, heritage tree discovery, pollinator surveys, electric fishing, pond dipping, moth release, talks on red squirrels, badgers and the results of the Bioblitz.
In September 2021 we held the first Traquair Bioblitz which aimed to survey and record as many species as possible within a 24 hour period around a 2km radius of Traquair House. This gave us a snapshot of the biodiversity in the area and 427 species were identified.
This year we are repeating the event but in the Spring. On Saturday 13th May wildlife and plant experts will be recording as many species as they can find over a 24 hour period and the results will be fed back on Sunday 14th at 1pm.
If you have a particular expertise concerning wildlife, plants or insects and would like to take part in the collection of data on Saturday 13th May please get in touch with Isabella Stuart Grey istuartgrey@gmail.com to join one of the groups.
Admission with Grounds ticket or season pass.
