Living History Weekend

1st August at 11:00 am - 2nd August at 5:00 pm

Step into 1474 as a royal hunting party makes camp at Traquair House.

For one weekend, Scotland’s oldest inhabited home will welcome a travelling court on progress through the Borders. Nobles in rich fifteenth‑century dress, their attendants, and the wider household will set up camp as they prepare for a day in the forests of Ettrick and Tweeddale.

Visitors can wander through the encampment, meet members of the royal household, and see how a court travelled, dined, and organised the rituals of the hunt. Period music, fine clothing, and the quiet industry of a working medieval camp will bring Traquair’s historic grounds to life.

A relaxed and engaging day out for families, history lovers, and visitors keen to experience Traquair as it might have been in the reign of James III.

Admission included with your Day Ticket or Season Pass.
