Have yourself a real Halloween experience this year by visiting Traquair and discovering all the spooky goings on!
If you want to feel the hairs on your neck stand on end then why not join a historical ghost tour at night and really soak up the history and the atmosphere of this ancient castle. The spirits of Traquair literally come alive and will take you on a fascinating journey through the history of the family’s religious persecution and Jacobite sympathies.
You end the tour with a warming glass of mulled wine and the 1745 Cottages Restaurant is open for delicious Halloween Suppers for all who dare.
Tickets are £10.00 for adults and £8.00 for children ( not suitable for under 8’s) Tickets should be booked in advance as places limited.
If you want a less chilling experience and have children who love to dress up then perhaps the Halloween Fun Day will be a little less scary. With lots of activities both inside and outside you don’t need to worry about the weather.
Inside you can start off with the Spook Passage Experience on the ground floor, have your tarot read if you wish and on the top floor you will find a Witches and Wizards Workshop, Spooky Face Painting and Ghost Stories in the Library.
Outside take part in lots of traditional Halloween Games such as Apple Dookin’ Sticky Scones and Spooky scavenger hunts. Then there will be ghost stories told in the Olde Yew Tree Circle and Owls will be on display with all days talks and flying demonstrations.
Come dressed to kill and win a fabulous prize for ages 0-5yrs, 5- 10yrs and 10 yrs and over.
